Hashimoto’s thyroiditis — the most common cause of hypothyroidism — is an autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland. This small, butterfly-shaped gland regulates energy, metabolism, and hormone balance. When it’s under attack, the result can be fatigue, weight fluctuations, brain fog, depression, and a long list of frustrating symptoms.
Conventional medicine often focuses on managing thyroid hormone levels with medication, but it rarely asks the deeper question: Why is the immune system attacking the thyroid in the first place? The answer often lies in imbalances within the body’s terrain — the internal environment that either supports health or creates dysfunction. Biomagnetic Therapy and Thyroid Health Biomagnetic therapy works by placing magnets in pairs along the body’s meridians and organ systems to help restore pH balance and reduce pathogenic load (viruses, bacteria, parasites, or fungi that can disrupt function). For those with Hashimoto’s, biomagnetic therapy may:
By correcting these imbalances, the thyroid and immune system often find greater harmony, creating space for healing instead of constant self-attack. The Role of Trauma and Stress Trauma — whether emotional, physical, or generational — can deeply impact the thyroid and immune system. Chronic stress raises cortisol levels, which not only exhausts the adrenals but also disrupts thyroid hormone production and conversion. Unresolved trauma can keep the body in a heightened state of inflammation and immune activation, making it more likely to “turn on itself.” Many people with Hashimoto’s notice flare-ups tied to stress, emotional upheaval, or unresolved grief. Addressing trauma through nervous system support, therapy, bodywork, or energy balancing can be a powerful piece of thyroid healing. Environmental Factors That Burden the Thyroid The modern world is full of environmental stressors that silently attack thyroid health:
These external factors overload the liver and detox pathways, forcing the immune system into overdrive. Supporting detoxification and reducing toxic exposure are key to restoring balance. The Role of the Liver and Detox Pathways The thyroid doesn’t work alone — it depends on a healthy liver and detox pathways. The liver is responsible for converting thyroid hormone (T4) into its active form (T3). If the liver is congested with toxins or under stress, this conversion suffers, and symptoms worsen. Supporting detox pathways ensures that waste products, excess hormones, and toxins don’t recirculate and burden the thyroid or immune system. Ways to support the liver and detox include:
Nutritional and Supplemental Support Healing Hashimoto’s isn’t about a quick fix — it’s about giving your body the right tools to restore balance. This often includes:
A Whole-Body Approach to Healing Hashimoto’s can feel overwhelming, but healing is possible when you work with the body instead of against it. By using biomagnetic therapy to restore balance, supporting the liver and detox pathways, addressing trauma, and reducing environmental stressors, many people experience:
At Earthbound Therapeutics, my focus is always on treating the body as a whole, not just chasing symptoms. When the terrain is balanced and supported, the thyroid can begin to thrive again. If you’ve been struggling with thyroid symptoms or Hashimoto’s and want to explore a holistic approach, I invite you to schedule a session and begin your healing journey.

In the ever-growing world of diet trends, the ketogenic (keto) diet has gained a massive following for its promises of rapid weight loss, mental clarity, and blood sugar stability. But at what cost?
As a holistic practitioner deeply rooted in the principles of functional wellness, I often see the aftermath of long-term keto in my practice: chronic fatigue, hormonal disruption, acidic terrain, and even impaired detoxification. Let’s break down why the keto diet may not be the miracle it’s made out to be—and how it can negatively impact your internal environment. Keto and the Body’s Acid-Alkaline Balance The human body thrives in a slightly alkaline state (around pH 7.35–7.45). When the body becomes too acidic—often from stress, toxic exposures, processed food, and animal-heavy diets—imbalances occur in nearly every system. Keto, by its very nature, is high in acidic foods: Excess animal proteins Saturated fats and dairy Low intake of alkalizing fruits and vegetables While ketosis may encourage short-term fat burning, the long-term consequence is a more acidic internal environment. This can lead to:
Missing the Nutrient Mark Keto typically restricts carbohydrate intake to less than 50g per day, which means cutting out many nutrient-dense foods like: Root vegetables Fruits Whole grains Fiber-rich foods This can quickly result in nutritional deficiencies, microbiome imbalance, and constipation due to lack of plant fiber—a key player in detox, hormone balance, and mental health. Stress on the Adrenals & Thyroid A low-carb, high-fat approach can mimic a starvation response, increasing cortisol levels and putting the adrenals under pressure. Long-term keto has also been linked to sluggish thyroid function due to insufficient glucose, which is essential for converting thyroid hormone (T3 → T4). Symptoms like mood swings, brain fog, insomnia, and menstrual irregularities often show up after several months of keto—and are often brushed off as “detox” or “adaptation.” What Your Body Truly Needs Balance. Not extremes. Your body is designed to metabolize a broad spectrum of nutrients—proteins, healthy fats, AND complex carbohydrates. Rather than fearing carbs, we should honor their purpose: to feed the brain, fuel the cells, and support hormone and neurotransmitter production. A truly healing approach supports: Cellular energy Detox pathways Nervous system regulation Hormone and lymphatic flow A thriving gut microbiome Bottom Line Keto may offer quick results on the scale, but at the expense of long-term balance and cellular vitality. As a practitioner who looks at the whole picture, I encourage my clients to tune into how food feels, not just how it performs on paper. If you’re looking for a more sustainable, nourishing, and alkalizing way to support your health—let’s talk. Healing isn’t about restriction; it’s about restoration. For some that may or may not know, over the past few months I have been creating, building and preparing to add on a new service. With growth comes continual changes as I seek to better serve those in need of healing. Once the finalization is complete and everything is ready, I will joyfully share the announcement more publicly. Where healing comes from root to rise. While these prescriptions are often handed out as a “quick fix,” few patients are ever told about the long-term risks. In fact, blood pressure medications are among the leading contributors to preventable illness and death — not always because of high blood pressure itself, but because of the way these drugs interfere with natural body chemistry.
The Role of Aldosterone Aldosterone is a hormone produced by your adrenal glands. Its main job is to regulate sodium, potassium, and fluid balance in the body. When aldosterone is working properly, it helps maintain healthy blood pressure and supports kidney function. But many blood pressure medications are designed to block or suppress aldosterone. While this can temporarily lower blood pressure, it also disrupts your body’s natural balance. The Kidney Connection Your kidneys depend on aldosterone to filter and regulate electrolytes. When aldosterone is suppressed by medication, the kidneys cannot properly excrete potassium. This can lead to hyperkalemia — dangerously high levels of potassium in the blood. Too Much Potassium = Major Risk Potassium is essential for nerve and muscle function, especially in the heart. But too much potassium (often misinterpreted as “vitamin K”) can cause:
This is one of the hidden reasons why long-term use of certain blood pressure medications has been linked to higher mortality rates. Looking Beyond the Pill The real problem isn’t that patients “need more drugs.” It’s that the root causes of high blood pressure — such as stress, poor nutrition, toxins, and lack of movement — are rarely addressed in conventional care. Natural, root-cause approaches can support healthy blood pressure without hijacking the body’s natural systems. These may include:
The Takeaway Blood pressure medications may appear to “manage” numbers on a chart, but the hidden cost is often disruption to aldosterone, kidney health, and electrolyte balance. This can create risks that are far greater than the original diagnosis. It’s time we start asking better questions about why blood pressure is high in the first place and seek solutions that restore balance — instead of creating new imbalances.
